Come find out what it’s all about!! Get Informed!! Get Involved!!
PARENTS. TEACHERS. STUDENTS. COMMUNITY.
Elk Grove High School PTSO is an active group of parents, teachers, students, and staff dedicated to enriching our children’s educational experience by building a community that nurtures safety, personal growth, and helps students reach their full potential.
5 REASONS TO GET INVOLVED
- We make a difference.
Our mission is to create the kind of school community where teachers and administrators can do their best work – and thus so will our children. We provide support for teachers in and out of the classroom. We try to build the kind of supporting, caring atmosphere that makes school enjoyable.
- Your child benefits.
When parents get connected to the school, children do better. Research shows that children whose parents are involved get better grades, do better on tests, and have fewer discipline problems at school.
- Teachers benefit.
Studies also show that when more parents are involved, teachers report more satisfaction at work and improved morale.
- We’re about parent involvement
In these times of tight budgets, parent groups everywhere have to fill in the gaps, and so we are. However, our number one goal is to get parents, teachers, and students more connected to the school. That’s because more than 300 independent research studies show that building parent involvement in education is the number one thing we can do to create a great school and improve student performance.
- We have fun.
Volunteer work shouldn’t be drudgery. We accomplish a lot, and not everything we do is easy, but we know we’re not balancing the national debt either. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and we try to enjoy oursleves along the way whenever possible.
ADVANTAGES OF ORGANIZING THROUGH PTSO
EGHS PTSO does not receive any money from the Elk Grove High School annual school budget or from the Elk Grove Unified School District budget. The EGHS PTSO is a not for profit, 501c3 organization that runs separately from, but collaborates with, the administration and staff at Elk Grove High School. There are many benefits in running parent and teacher involvement through this format.
- The PTSO is a 501c3 organization, this means buisnesses are more likely to donate time, money, or goods because they can declare these charitable donations on their taxes.
- Many businesses have charitable giving planned in their annual budgets and can give more to 501c3 organizations because of these tax breaks.
- As a 501c3, our organization does not have to pay sales taxes. In Sacramento County, sales tax is 7.75%.This saves us money.
- Since the PTSO is a 501c3, there are laws regarding money coming in and going out.All money has to be accounted for and a treasurer’s report has to be given at meetings. This means you can feel good about the fact that money donated goes directly to supporting the cause it was donated for, in this case, the students, families, teachers and staff of EGHS.
- Since PTSO collaborates with the EGHS administrative staff, the Principal, Activities director, and teacher representatives attend our meetings. This means they are available to address concerns and answer questions for any parents that attend.
EGHS PTSO Meeting Schedule:
Please Join Us At Our First Meeting of the Year!!
September 21ST at 6:30 pm at 9011 Quail Cove Drive
Parents, Principal Dr. Eugene Christmas, Activities Director James Pale, and teacher representatives meet with us once a month on every 2nd Tuesday at 6:30 pm. These meetings will usually be held at the school in the library but cannot do that right now due to COVID restrictions. For now, meeting places may vary month to month. OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP
Our organization supports our school volunteers for school activities, meals for teachers and staff, scholarships for students, charitable donations for our own students in need, any other program that benefits our entire school, and Project Graduation, offering a safe and drug/alcohol free way for our graduating Seniors to be celebrated.
We have lots of roles that need to be filled namely general leadership rolls, and committees to help us organize and manage. The more of us there are, the better our organization will be, and the more we can create a positive impact on our school community.
FUNDRAISING
Our biggest fundraiser is our membership fees. The more people that are willing become members of the PTSO, the more good we can do!
We also will sponsor restaurant nights, car washes, drive through meals, and any other fundraisers that our creative parents and teachers can think of. All money raised goes directly to supporting our students and school community.
We also accept donations. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization and so your donations are tax exempt. You can make a donation using the link below:
