PSAT-Wednesday, October 13

 
PSAT / NMSQT for 11th and 9th grade students -
If you are interested in the PSAT, the test date is Wednesday October 13.  Cost is $18.  You can make your payment at the EGUSD Testing payment website: https://webstores.activenetwork.com/school-software/egusd_testing_online/
 
Payments are DUE by Thursday, Sept 30th.
 
11th graders could be eligible for a fee waiver.  Please complete the following form HERE (Spanish HERE) and connect with Mr. E. to let him know. Mr. E. would need to order your exam for you.
 
10th graders are free and do not need to make a payment.  Any questions contact Jason Emperador at Jemperad@egusd.net or 916-892-3076 office.

SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION

Hello EGHS Parents and Guardians! This email contains information and updates regarding Summer School and Summer Enrichment/Extended Learning Opportunities.
 
Summer School- Credit Retrieval
 
Most classes will be offered through the online learning platform Edgenuity from June 7-July 23.
 
PE will be offered in person from June 7-July 1 in two sessions: a morning session 8:00 am to 11:30 and a pm session 12:00 to 3:30.
 
Grab and Go lunch will be provided daily at 11:30.
 
Students who have applied for summer school can see what classes they are enrolled in by going to StudentVue and selecting gradebook/EGUSD HS Summer School.
 
In addition, the deadline for applying for summer school has been extended to accommodate students who may need to repeat a class after Quarter 4 grades are finalized. Deadline: Extended to May 28, 2021 or until courses are full. Please apply as soon as possible.

Other On-Site Enrichment Options
The Hubs and Workshops below are for enrichment and/or support; students do not earn credits for participation.
 
Learning Hubs
EGHS will be offering two learning Hubs: a math Hub and English Learner Hub. Hubs are on campus from June 7 to July 1 8:00 to 3:30 with lunch offered on campus between 11:30 and 12:00. Hubs are available for students who may need help with their Edgenuity classes. Teachers, para-educators, and other support staff will be available to answer questions, help with connectivity issues, encourage student as they work through the Edgenuity curriculum, or just provide a quiet place to study. Students can access the Hub on an as-needed, drop-in basis or students may attend the Hub daily from June 7th to July 1st or until they finish their Edgenuity course, whichever comes first. Please indicate your interest in a learning Hub when you complete the interest form (link below).
 
AVID Workshop
An AVID workshop will be offered for all AVID students. Monday August 2nd is a training day only for upperclassmen, and students 9-12 will attend Tuesday August 3rd thru Thursday August 5th. Don’t miss the chance to start your year in AVID off right by connecting with teachers and peers, and participating in fun teambuilding activities. If your student will be in AVID next year please indicate your interest on the link below, and be on the lookout for an email from Dan Wilson, AVID coordinator.
 
Band Skills Workshop
Are you a band student who has missed practicing and performing live with friends and your teacher? Are you feeling a little rusty and in need of some skills review to get ready for marching season/wind ensemble etc.? A band skills workshop will be offered on July 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23 from 8-3:30. There will be a parent performance from 4-5 on July 23rd. If you are interested in this workshop please indicate your interest on the link below, and be on the lookout for an email from Mario Sebastian, Band Director.
 
Musical Leadership Workshop
Leaders in band will have the chance to hone their leadership skills at a leadership camp on June 29, 30, and July 1 from 8am to 3:30. There will be a parent performance on July 1st from 4-5. If your student will be in band next year and is interested in this workshop please indicate your interest on the link below, and be on the lookout for an email from Mario Sebastian, Band Director.
 
ASB/Student Leadership

Academics for Athletes: Football
Learn key academic skills that will help you next year and beyond. Two sessions will be offered based on grade level: freshmen and sophomores 6/7-6/18 from 12-3 juniors and seniors 6/21-7/2 from 12-3. If your student is interested in this workshop please indicate your interest on the link below, and be on the lookout for an email from John Heffernan, Athletic Director.
 
How to be HERD
