GENERAL NEWS:
Theater’s next movie night is 80’s themed on Friday, November 1st! It’s a Back to the Future double feature! We will be offering a steep discount on tickets this month if you bring a friend. See both movies for just $3! Discounted snacks, pizza, and drinks will be sold in the lobby and there will be 80’s themed trivia during intermission. Come support the theater department and have a good time! Lobby opens at 5pm. Hope to see you all there! All are welcome!

HOMECOMING NEWS:
Dance tickets are on sale NOW in the Student Store. $20 with ASB and $25 without. The last day to purchase tickets is this Thursday at lunch.

Don’t forget to show your school spirit this week! Tomorrow is Blue and Gold Day. Thursday is throwback and Friday is Class T-shirt day.

Today Women’s Volleyball is home against Pleasant Grove and Women’s Tennis is home against St. Francis.

CAREER CENTER NEWS:
Cosumnes River College will be on campus this month. Head over to the Career Center for more information.

EGHS Cash for College will be Tuesday, October 29th from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. This is an opportunity for families to receive help with the FAFSA/CADAA. See Ms. Hogge in the Career Center for more information.

CLUB NEWS:
French Club – Come out tomorrow for a quick planning meeting in C-17. We’ll be planning for the homecoming parade and our Halloween potluck. See Mademoiselle Bockwinkel for more info.

Want to walk with the Latino Club during the Homecoming parade? Meet in Ms. Becerra's classroom in A-8 this Friday after school! Feel free to bring your own props that reflect the Latin American culture!

The Latino Club will have a table at the senior steps next Friday (November 1) for Dia de los Muertos.  Students will be able to color their own candy skulls and receive Mexican candy for participating. Please see us on the Senior Steps or come to Room A8 for more info.

BSU Black Student Union meets Tuesdays at lunch in P-11. All are welcome.

Environmental Club meets Thursdays at lunch in P-11. Help us help the planet!

The CyberPatriot Round 1 competition is this Saturday.  CyberPatriot competitors have a mandatory meeting this Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in room D-6 at 3:30pm.  Contact Mr. McNally if you have a time conflict.

Attention students: Fashion club will have a photo shoot of your personal style – want to share who you are? Join us after school this Thursday at the tennis courts! All are welcome. We will have semi-professional photographers to take pictures of individuals and groups. See Ms. Scidmohr for more info.

SENIOR NEWS:
Attention Seniors!! If you are applying to a CSU go to the career center today for an application review with a counselor before you submit your application. Don’t submit until you have a review of your application.

The deadline to take your Senior portrait for the yearbook is this Friday, October 25th. Contact Prestige - Elk Grove to schedule your appointment and see Ms. Escobar in P-5 with any questions.

GENERAL NEWS:
Students! Absolutely No Food deliveries during school hours. This includes Door Dash and all other food delivery companies. If they show-up they will be turned away. Thank you!

Theater has a movie night this Friday, October 18th in the Little Theater. We will be playing Goosebumps 1 and 2 as a double feature. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with movies running at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 or $4 if you come in costume. All are welcome! See Ms. Germano for more information.

Powder Puff Shirts are in! Please stop by the Student Store today or tomorrow, during lunch, to pick it up.

PSAT reminder for 11th and 9th graders that signed up for tomorrow’s exam. Please arrive in the South Gym promptly by 7:40am. NO mechanical pencils. You will need a #2 pencil and a calculator is recommended. Any questions, please see Mr. Emperador

Please release all FFA freshmen with Green passes to the Little Theater during Herd Time today for our Greenhand Ceremony. Please see Mr. Albiani for more information.

HOMECOMING NEWS:
Tickets are on sale this week in the Student Store. $20 with ASB and $25 without. Don’t wait until the last minute…head on over today.

The District will be hosting their 27th annual College and Career Fair tomorrow, October 16th, at Florin High School from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Tickets turned in to the student store, the library, or the counseling office receive a sweet treat and a chance to win a gift certificate or Herd Pride gear. Prizes will be delivered during 8th period every Thursday. The winners for the week of 9/30-10/4 are: Preston Johnson, Jazmin Guerrero, Jason Jones, Miranda Roccucci. The winners for the week of 10/-10/11 are: Myles Wilson, Melissa Fernandez, Micah Kirkpatrick, Chanel Yabut. Staff Shout Outs go to Mr. Wilson, Mr. Shaw, Mrs. Silveira, Coach Sabbagh, Mrs. Bos, Mr.  Benson, Mrs. Erman, Mrs. Etchison.

The PSAT will be offered Wednesday, October 16th, which is also a REVERSE minimum day. Deadline to register is tomorrow, Oct 11th. If you have any questions or needing financial assistance, please see Mr. Emperador.

STUDENTS, the no activities list for tardy detentions has been posted. You can find the list in the STUDENT STORE and LIBRARY windows. You must serve your issued lunch detentions to be removed from the list. Lunch detention is held in A-1 at the beginning of lunch. Any questions, see Ms. Sphar.

Students and parents please join us TONIGHT, October 3rd from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Library for the Empowering Families workshop. We will be focusing on Post-secondary options, exploration, and planning. We look forward to seeing you! For more info see Ms. Hogge in the Career Center

The California Scholarship Federation applications are out! You can pick up your CSF application in the Student Store, Career Center, Library, or you can print it from our website. The deadline is THIS Friday, October 4th. NO applications will be accepted after Friday, October 4th.  Any questions, please see Ms. Weaver in P-15.

The PSAT will be offered Wednesday, October 16th, which is also a REVERSE minimum day. There is no cost for all 10th graders to take the PSAT. If you are a Junior or Freshman interested in taking the PSAT, the cost is $18. You can sign up and pay in the Student Store, during lunch, or on the webstore. Deadline to register is Oct 11th. Happy first day of October! Homecoming Season is here!

Homecoming nominations have begun. All students are invited to nominate 3 Senior boys and 3 Senior girls for Homecoming Royal Court on the Senior Steps, today at lunch, to get names on the voting ballot. Starting tomorrow, October 2nd through Friday, October 4th, Seniors will be voting for Homecoming Royal Court from this ballot. NOTE: If you are running for Royalty, you can NOT campaign on the Senior steps or linger on the Senior steps during voting. Failure to comply will result in you being removed from the ballot. Period.

Fluffs will be in the quad this week, Tuesday-Thursday after school until 8:00 p.m.

GENERAL NEWS:
STUDENTS, the no activities list for tardy detentions has been posted. You can find the list in the STUDENT STORE and LIBRARY windows. You must serve your issued lunch detentions to be removed from the list. Lunch detention is held in A-1 at the beginning of lunch. Please serve your detentions as soon as possible to be eligible for school activities. Any questions, see Ms. Sphar.

The California Scholarship Federation applications are out! You can pick up your CSF app in the Student Store, Career Center, Library, or you can print it from our website. The application period will be open from Monday, September 30th to Friday, October 4th. NO applications will be accepted after Friday, October 4th.  You can make your payments in the Student Store during lunch or on the Webstore. Any questions, please see Ms. Weaver in P-15.

The PSAT will be offered Wednesday, October 16th , which is also a REVERSE minimum day. There is no cost for all 10th graders to take the PSAT. SPORTS NEWS:
A big congratulations to both JV and Varsity Football teams for earning their first league win of the season; as both teams were able to beat Davis. Both teams stand at 3-1 and are getting ready to take on Sheldon this Friday at home.

Great job to Cross Country for running hard this past weekend in Stockton as they took 10th out of over 30 teams in attendance.

Today Women’s Tennis is home against Pleasant Grove.

Tomorrow Cross Country will be at Cherry Island for their DVC League Meet and Women’s Golf will be Wildhawk against St. Francis.

GENERAL NEWS:
STUDENTS, the PSAT will be offered Wednesday, October 16th , which is also a REVERSE minimum day. There is no cost for all 10th graders to take the PSAT. If you are a Junior or Freshman interested in taking the PSAT, the cost is $18. You can sign up and pay in the Student Store, during lunch, or on the webstore. Deadline to register is Oct 11th. Students that exhibit Honor, Effort, Respect and Determination can receive a Herd Pride Ticket by members of our campus staff or administration. Tickets turned in to the student store, the library, or the counseling office receive a sweet treat and a chance to win a gift certificate or Herd Pride backpack. Prizes will be delivered during 8th period every Thursday. The winners for the weeks of 9/13 and 9/20 are: Hezekiah, Bryant Cervantes, Mason Sphar, and Jeris Ransom. Special Shout out to the following teachers who passed out the cards: Webber, Garcia, Wilson, and Carlson. Way to go Herd!

Calling all students!  We want to hear your voice.  Come to the senior steps next Monday through Friday 9/23-9/27 during lunch and complete our HERD Pride survey.  All students who participate will receive a Herd Pride ticket for the weekly drawing, treat/snack, and be entered to win one of 10 FREE HOMECOMING DANCE TICKETS!!!!!!!!!  Staff will be present to pass out the cards and assist students with logging on to chrome books.  If you have a smartphone, you scan the QR code instead.  Winners of the homecoming dance tickets will be announced during HERD Time the following Tuesday October 1st. Come on out and take a look at custom, muscle, stock, modified, race cars, limited edition cars, pretty much anything car wise you could imagine! It’s gonna be a great time! We are partnering this year with the Camaro Generations club and will be expecting over 200 cars! Not your average high school car show! Come see the shop and our projects! Academic Awards will be held tonight from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the Cartwright. Invitations have been mailed to award recipients. You can also see award recipients by grade level and student ID on the Library window facing the quad.

Don’t forget…tomorrow is SPORTS DAY! Wear a hat, shirt, or jersey of your favorite sports team!

The second movie will be a Sing-a-long to the Little Mermaid and will start at 7:45pm with a 15 minute intermission between movies where a Disney trivia will be held. All are welcome to attend. LIBRARY NEWS:
Do you owe any books to the library?  Are they still sitting at home but you keep forgetting to bring them? Set yourself a reminder and get ALL OVERDUE BOOKS returned this week.  Bills for outstanding books will be sent home next week.  Also, you are on the No-Activities List if you haven’t returned your books! There will be a Girls Basketball Meeting today at lunch in Ms. Campbell's room P-39. Fall conditioning will be starting next week, all are welcome to come out! See Ms. Campbell with questions.

Wang Optometry is looking for a part time clerical assistant at their optometric office. Duties include filing, phones, some patient care.  Please see Ms. Hogge in the Career Center for more information.

CLUB NEWS:
The Community Beautification Club is a club that will help clean our school. We will meet every Wednesday starting September 11th in P-9. This club will help the school and the custodians with their job. Please consider this club as an opportunity to help our community. For more info see Ms. Pettinato

GENERAL NEWS:
Good morning and happy Tuesday! If you have received a Herd Pride ticket, please get it turned in ASAP. We will be announcing the winner for this weeks drawing on Thursday. You can turn in your ticket at the Student Store, the counseling office, or the library.

School pictures are in! Lifetouch pictures can be picked up on the Senior steps today through Thursday at lunch. Any questions, please contact Mr. Pale

If you missed out on taking your school picture, Lifetouch will be on campus Wednesday morning, September 25th for picture make ups.

Our annual Blood drive will be Wednesday, Sept 11th. Sign-ups start today through Thursday on the Senior steps at lunch. Any questions, contact Mr. Pale

The first movie night of the year will be held this Friday, September 6th in the Little Theater and will be a summer Disney double feature. The first movie, Lilo and Stitch, will start at 6pm. Doors open at 5:30pm and snacks will be sold in the lobby for a low price. The second movie will be a Sing-a-long to the Little Mermaid and will start at 7:45pm with a 15 minute intermission between movies where a Disney trivia will be held. All are welcome to attend. Tickets are $5 per person or $8 for two people. Bring a friend! See Ms. Germano for more info.

CAFETERIA NEWS:
EGHS, please remember that your last year’s lunch applications will expire in a couple of weeks so get your new application in ASAP, it is blue and came in your Advisory packets. You can also apply for the breakfast and lunch program online and it is much faster than the paper ones. If you are not getting lunch in the speed line please wait for you friends outside the line. For those of you that don’t know we are serving a 2nd breakfast (nutritional break) during your morning 10 minute passing period.We have a new item: Black Bean Veggie Burger with fries in the snack bar. Come check it out. And don’t forget we have fresh made Caesar Salads every Wednesday. Any questions see Ms. Raney in the Cafeteria.

LIBRARY NEWS:
Do you owe any books to the library?  Are they still sitting at home but you keep forgetting to bring them? Set yourself a reminder and get ALL OVERDUE BOOKS returned this week.  Bills for outstanding books will be sent home next week.  Also, you are on the No-Activities List if you haven’t returned your books! Please see Ms. Reiswig in the Library with any questions.

Looking for an internship?? The HYPU and Miss Hmong Central Valley Douagee Cheng have something special for you all. Most internships are unpaid, but here you will receive a stipend and an opportunity to network with professionals, get to know the career of your interest before committing, and learn new skills.
