GENERAL NEWS:

Students that exhibit Honor, Effort, Respect and Determination can receive a Herd Pride Ticket by a campus supervisors or administrator. Tickets turned in to the student store, the library, or the counseling office receive a sweet treat and a chance to win a gift certificate or Herd Pride backpack. Prizes will be delivered.

ATTENTION STUDENTS. Second semester schedules WILL NOT BE PRINTED and distributed.  You may access your second semester schedule by clicking the Semester 2 tab in Synergy.  If you do not have access to synergy, you may print a schedule in the library or career center.  If you have questions about your schedule see your counselor.

1.        Help set up for Local Agriscience Fair 12/13

2.        Bring cookies or refreshments for Agriscience fair

3.        Have a parent or guardian attend Agriscience Fair 4-6pm

4.        Help Clean-up Agriscience 6 pm

The CyberPatriot team is competing this weekend in their Round 2 of the Air Force Association's National Youth Cyber Education Program.  Please cheer them on as they try to improve upon their 141st position out of over 5000 teams.

The California Math League Contest will take place on Tuesday, December 12th in room C-8 at 3:30pm.  Come join us for fun with math.  Students will have 30 minutes to complete 6 worthwhile high school math problems.  At least two problems won't require more than Algebra or Geometry knowledge including coordinate geometry.

The Mathletics team will be competing at Laguna Creek High School Thursday, December 14th.  Team members will need to see Mr. McNally prior to Wednesday to sign up for the event.

The Japanese Decathalon Club is selling ornaments at lunch in the quad. Ornaments will be delivered during class on December 11th and 12th. Each one is $2. Thank you for your support!

SPORTS NEWS:

The Men’s Basketball program is playing at the Golden 1 Center downtown!  The game is Monday, December 11th and they need everyone to come out and support!  Tickets are $20 for students and will be available for purchase during lunch in the student store.

Ashley Vanderpan and Kennedy Crawford will be participating in the 2017 Optimist Volleyball All-star game. The game will be held at St. Francis HS at 7; 00pm on Saturday, December 9th. Come support these girls and congratulate them for this achievement.

GENERAL NEWS:

Elk Grove Afterschool Theatre will hold auditions for our spring production of Shakespeare’s comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing,” Tuesday Dec. 5 and Wednesday Dec. 6, 4-6.  Memorize a brief Shakespearean monologue or sonnet. Rehearsal will begin January, 2018.

All students hear this, the AMC 10/12 sign-ups are taking place online and in room C-8.  The competition will be February 7th but sign-ups are now.  Go see Mr. McNally in room C-8 during lunch or after school this week by Wednesday, December 6th.  Mr. McNally will be ordering tests sometime before break so write your name down on his list if you have not yet signed up online.  This is the Annual American Mathematics Competition that has the winners announced at the end of the year Black Light Rally.

The EGHS wrestling team competed at the Rumble for the Rig in Bakersfield this weekend. Out of the 12 wrestlers sent to compete at this tough event, 9 were place winners. Lokahi Tonge finished 3rd, Joseph Hernandez finished 4th. Ryan Harlow, Jacob Crook, and Nahele Tonge all finished 5th. Spencer Francesconi, Hassan Khan, and Carson Gause all finished in 6th and Ritchie Matalski finished 8th. Well done herd Grapplers.

 

The Lady Herd grapplers competed at the Lady Royal Invitational this past weekend in San Jose where all 4 girls competing made the finals. Karly Scott and Sienna Lejeune finished 2nd after losing tough matches in the finals. Two Herd wrestlers both advanced to the finals at the 111 pound weight class, Miranda Dibenedetto and Esmerelda Arroyo but double forfeited due to injury. Well done ladies.

 

Hey EGHS! The Women’s Soccer team will be playing at Cosumnes Oaks High School today. JV plays at 4:30, Varsity at 6:30. Head over to CO and show your Herd Pride!

GENERAL NEWS:

Congratulations to Mrs. Lawson’s class for collecting over 1200 canned food items for the KCRA kids can drive! We collected close to 4000 cans this year and are very happy we can contribute to the community and the Elk Grove Food Closet. GO HERD!!!

All students are invited to sign up online for the AMC 10/12.  This annual math competition is an opportunity for students at all levels to challenge their critical thinking skills in math.  An email will soon be in your inbox regarding this opportunity.  Your math teachers can give you a flyer if you do not have access to your email.  Please sign up for the American Mathematics Competition by December 6th.  The competition will take place next semester on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
