GENERAL NEWS:

 

Calling all multicultural performers! Signups for the 2018 multicultural assembly are next week at lunch in the quad. Our theme is Dream Together, Stand Together, Rise Together. So let’s perform together! This year we have student teachers who will teach dances, so be sure to sign up!

It’s hilarious, it’s heartwarming…It’s Harvey! EGHS’ fall production, the Pulitzer-prize winning play about a man and his rabbit, begins next week. Performances are Oct. 27, 28 and Nov. 2, 3, and 4 @ 7:00 PM in the EGHS theatre. $5 for students.

TDA: If you're going on the East Bay Field Trip, the informational meeting will be today at the beginning of lunch in A-9.

Kids Can food drive is taking place in your first period class. Please support the local Elk Grove Food Closet and bring canned food items to your first period class.

                                                                                                           

Red Ribbon week will start October 23rd and run through October 31. Pledge to be drug and alcohol free next week during lunch and participate in the lunch time activities.

 

We are in need of about 10 more host families for Australian exchange students. Come to C2 and get info. The Aussies will be here in January so act now.

 

Academic Awards Night is October 30th at 6 pm in the Cartwright Gym. Everyone should have received an invitation already. First 100 students in the door get a free t-shirt and we will have 4 raffle items of our Nike Spirit Wear.

 

Renaissance sign-ups will be next week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Be sure to come get signed up and recognized for your academic success.

ASVAB results have been returned to EGHS. We will have an Interpretation Workshop this Thursday during 2nd period in the Career Center. If you do not wish to attend the workshop please see Ms. Teresi to pick up your scores.

Juniors and Seniors! CRC will be offering Introduction to Public Speaking here at EGHS next semester. This course is both CSU and UC transferable and is a great way for you to earn college units while still in high school. Applications are available in the Career Center. Please see Ms. Teresi if you have any questions!

Women’s Activist Club will meet this Friday in P-43 during lunch. Please join us to activate awareness! You will not be denied access.

French Club is having its first Café Potluck this Thursday in C-17 at the beginning of lunch. Current members welcome. New friends must come sign up for what to bring.

Jostens will be on campus to take orders for Senior Graduation Cap & Gown on November 2nd. Prices are $26 but if you miss the deadline, prices increase to $41. Be sure not to miss that deadline.

SPORTS NEWS:   

Hey Herd, have you heard? Our Varsity Women’s Tennis Team made it to playoffs for the first time in 5 years! Big shout out to all the girls for such a fantastic season. Today, after school, the team will be facing off with Franklin as their final match of the season. Come out and support the ladies! Make sure to congratulate the girls for their amazing achievement whenever you see them. Go Herd!

Announcements

 

GENERAL NEWS:

Hey EGHS! Academic Awards will be held on Monday, October 30th at 6:00 p.m. in the Cartwright. This semester 376 students will be receiving awards! If you received an invitation bring your parents and show your Herd Pride!

 

The Kids Can Food Drive has officially started. Donations will be collected October 16th – November 9th. Bring in cans to help fill the Elk Grove Food Closest. Last year we collected 2,000 cans, let’s work together to collect even more this year! Prizes will be awarded to the 1st period class with the most donations!

 

Red Ribbon week is next week October 23rd - 27th. Stay tuned for information on door decorating and lunch time activities.

 

Herd Couture will be open this Wednesday during lunch – come by to shop! Please donate gently used items – we are seeking winter wear for young men and young women.

FFA Members don’t forget:  Today Greenhand Degree Ceremony at Herd Time and FFA Meeting at lunch in the Ag Quad!  If you paid your dues enjoy a free Hot Dog lunch!  Bring your ID card!!!  There will also be volunteer farm clean up from 3:30-5:00 pm.

All students interested in competing in a math contest please see Mr. McNally on Tuesday, today, in room C-8 at 3:30pm for the California Math League Contest.  Students will be challenged to answer 6 math problems in 30 minutes.  The problems may involve any topic from high school mathematics through pre-calculus.  Each contest includes at least two problems requiring no mathematics beyond elementary algebra and geometry, including coordinate geometry.  We’ll see you there.
