GENERAL NEWS:
Your second semester schedules are now available on Synergy.  Please verify your schedule by following the instructions on the EGHS web site.  Let you counselor know if you have any questions or concerns.  Routine schedule changes will not be made once the second semester starts. 

Theater is having their Disney sing a long night this Friday the 14
th. Doors open at 4:45pm with the first movie at 5pm and the second movie at 6:45pm. They will be showing The Lion King and Moana. You can attend one movie or both. Tickets are $5 each or $3 each if you bring one family member with you. Snacks are sold before the show and during intermission and all proceeds go to supporting the theater department!

Chicago auditions will be in January after break, but please look out for audition packs this week to practice over break! Please see Ms. German or Mr. Sebastian for any questions.

There will be a Chicago informational meeting this Tuesday the December 18th from 3:30-4:30pm in the band room G3. Audition packets will be given out and audition material will be reviewed and explained. Please attend if you are interested in auditioning for the show.


LIBRARY NEWS:
Remember students, that textbooks for 1st semester classes are due in the library before you leave for winter break.  Check with your teacher to see what day your class will be coming to turn them in.  Textbooks for 2nd semester classes can’t be checked-out until 1st semester books are turned in.   Don’t get on the No-Activities-List!


CLUB NEWS:
GSA and Women’s Activist Club and anyone interested in joining us – come to P-43 Friday during lunch. We are looking for new members and want you to join us! See you this Friday in P-43 during lunch!


SPORTS NEWS:
The girl's and boys’ varsity basketball teams have a game at the Golden 1 Center against Rio Americano. Games will take place on Saturday, December 22nd – girls play at 6:00 pm, boys play at 7:30 pm. Tickets for EGHS students are $18 to get into both games. Tickets can be purchased in the Student Store.  Please come out and support! Contact Coach Campbell or Coach Monday.

Men’s soccer is home today against West Campus. JV is at 4:00 with Varsity to follow.

On Monday….Women’s soccer is HOME against Davis and Men’s soccer is AWAY at Davis. Women’s Varsity starts at 3:30 with JV to follow.

All ladies interested in trying out for softball needs to attend a short meeting at the beginning of lunch on Tuesday 12/18 in the Cartwright gym. Questions See Coach Buck.

Does it feel like your senior year is flying by?  You have other senior activities coming up very soon.  Make sure you continue the fun by signing up for Sober Grad Night.  The price is only $85!  Sign up on the web store right away! 

Join the Black College Expo Saturday, January 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and get a jump start on your future by being the first Seniors and Juniors to interview with a variety of colleges and universities and start planning where you want to be when you graduate. Expo will be held at Sacramento State University (6000 J Street, Sacramento).

GENERAL NEWS:
Come eat Chipotle and help our school while you’re at it! The PTSO is holding a Chipotle Dinner night today, Tuesday, 12/11, and 33% of all our purchases come back to the school. Come support the school and get a delicious dinner at the same time! See you at Chipotle!

The California Math League Contest will be held today, December 11th in room C-8 starting promptly at 3:30pm.  All students are encouraged to participate in this 30 minute, 6 question long, statewide math contest.

The Mathletics competition at Laguna Creek High School on Thursday, December 13th will begin at 4pm.
  Please be sure to sign up with Mr. McNally in room C-8 so you can participate and represent our High School at this Regional Math Competition.

The boy’s frosh and JV basketball teams are away at Valley. The girls’ JV and varsity teams are away at Woodcreek.

GENERAL NEWS:
Bradshaw Animal Shelter is collecting old, used towels and blankets for a sister shelter in the fire area that is using many. If you have any you’d like to get rid of, you can drop them off in P-11 or C-2 through this week.

The theater’s fall production of A Night on Broadway is tomorrow, December 7th at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30 and tickets are sold in the Student Store or at the door for $10. Please come and support the theater department! Please contact Ms. Germano or Mr. Sebastian for more information regarding all ticket sales.

The theater is hosting their next movie night, Friday December 14th in the little theater. They are having a sing a long night to The Lion King and Moana. You may attend both movies or just one of your choice. Movie times to be released at a later date. Tickets are $5 but as it is December they are offering a special family discount of $3 a ticket if you bring one or more family members! All are welcome at these movie nights both students and outside families so please come support the theater department for Disney night December 14th!

Anyone wishing to audition for the spring musical Chicago should keep an eye out in the next few weeks for audition packets with Ms. German or Mr. Sebastian. Auditions will be held immediately after we come back from break in January.

This weekend come out and support your Elk Grove High varsity wrestlers as they take on some of the best teams from around the state at the Curt Mettler invitational right here at EGHS all day on Saturday, December 8th.

Junior Cartwright Tournament starts this Thursday December 6
th and runs through Saturday December 8th. Come show your Herd Pride.

GENERAL NEWS:
Bradshaw Animal Shelter is collecting old, used towels and blankets for a sister shelter in the fire area that is using many. If you have any you’d like to get rid of, you can drop them off in P-11 or C-2 through this week.

Do you need your computer tech requirement met? There will be a computer technology challenge test Monday, December 17th at 3:30 in the Career Center. Please see your counselor to sign up.

Mark your calendars for the next EGHS Pathways to Success meeting, which will be held tomorrow, December 5, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the EGHS Library. The meeting topic is college applications. We'll discuss how to navigate the five different types of four-year college applications, and how to understand different admission deadlines and decisions.

SPORTS NEWS:
Our girls’ team for the Cartwright Tournament lost to state-ranked Antelope in the championship game and Rylee Hardin and Keyara McCoy were selected as all-tournament players.  The boy’s team finished third place, only losing to eventual Champion Center High School. JJ James was chosen for the all-tournament team.

Women’s soccer is away at Monterey Trail today and men’s soccer is away at Monterey Trail tomorrow.

Men’s basketball is away at Burbank and women’s is home against Valley today.

This weekend the boys and girls varsity wrestling teams competed at the Grizzly invitational at Granite Bay High. Congratulations to Lia Poteras on her championship win, second place finishes from Kaili Seto and Savannah Lejuenne, and 3rd place finishes from Mykhala Bagler and Karly Scott. Congratulations also to 1st place finishers Ryan Elgarico, Joseph Hernandez, and Peter Ming. Jacob Hudson and Kendall Frank finished 2nd. Jacob Crook, Steven Webster, Hezikiah Endsley, and Ledger Petracek finished third and Jacob Vetterli finished 4th.
