GENERAL NEWS:
Picture retakes are Sept 26th during lunch in the small café.

Attention Academic Decathlon members- we’re meeting today, Tuesday 9-18, during lunch in P-44. Bring your food and we’ll see you there! Please direct all questions to Ms. Loveridge.

Hey TDA Freshmen and Junior Mentors: Don’t forget to get your Form Cs signed and turned in ASAP to go to Unity Day on Thursday. Please direct all questions to Ms. Souliere.

TDA is going to Sonoma State and UC Davis on October 9! Be on the lookout for Form Cs and get your paperwork in fast! Please direct all questions to Ms. Souliere.

Juniors and freshman – If you are interested in taking the PSAT on October 10th you can register on the web store or in the student store.
  The cost is $18 and the deadline to register is October 5th.  It is first come, first serve and if you have any questions see Mr. Emperador.

Herd Couture Elk Grove High School’s clothing exchange boutique is now open Wednesdays during lunch. Stop by the theater lobby during lunch to shop! If you’d like to donate gently use clothing including shoes and jackets, please bring donations to P-43. Please direct questions to Ms. Scidmohr.


CAREER CENTER NEWS:
Soka University will be visiting today during 8th period in the Career Center. University of Redlands will be here Friday, Sept 21st. Next week we have Oregon State, Arizona State, Whittier College & University of Hawaii at Manoa visiting. Please come to the Career Center to sign up for these presentations! Don’t miss out!

Wang Optometry is looking for a part time clerical assistant at their optometric office. Duties include filing, phones, some patient care.

Women’s Activist Club will be meeting tomorrow the 14th during lunch in P-43. Even if you did not sign up during club rush come join us! Please direct questions to Ms. Scidmohr.

Please join the Mathletics Team members on Tuesdays in room C-8 from 3:30-4 pm if you are interested in solving puzzles and other worthwhile math problems. Please direct all questions to Mr. McNally.

CAFETERIA NEWS:
Remember to turn in your YELLOW lunch applications ASAP, your last year’s lunch application WILL expire this Friday 9-21-18. Come see Helen or Veronica in the cafeteria for a new lunch app if you need one, or apply on line on the EGHS website under the parents tab.


LIBRARY NEWS:
Students owing any books or book fines are currently on the NO ACTIVITIES LIST and may not purchase tickets to any school function!  Bills were sent out this week. Please direct all questions to Ms. Reiswig in the Library.


SPORTS NEWS:
In sports news....The Thundering Herd took ANOTHER home field win on Friday night against Davis. Let’s continue to show our Herd Pride, and support our Boys as they play at Sheldon high school this Friday, Sept 21.

Today Women’s Tennis is away at Pleasant Grove High School.

EGHS is holding a fundraiser with the Sacramento Republic FC. If you would like to help out our school and watch a little soccer, go and visit Mrs. Hogge in the Student Store for more details and information.

Girls' Basketball Fundraiser at Mountain Mike's Pizza @ 8441 Elk Grove - Florin Road on September 27, 2018 at 3:30 pm. Please direct all questions to Ms. Campbell.

GENERAL NEWS:
Attention EGHS! Tomorrow we have our whiteout spirit day! Wear white to school and the game. Don’t forget to bring your ID and get spirit points at the senior steps at lunch. Teachers also come check in at the steps if you dress up.

Students can go to the Senior Steps to pick up their purchased Lifetouch pictures during lunch time this week till Friday. After that they will have to be picked up in C2.

CAFETERIA NEWS:
We are serving HOT sandwich specials every day in our snack bar. Mon: Meatball w/Shredded Mozzarella, Tue: Hot turkey Pastrami w/ Swiss, Wed: Chicken Torta w/shredded cheese, Thur: Philly Beef w/Swiss, and Fri: Burgess BBQ Chicken W/ Pepper Jack.

Please have your ID and money ready when you are getting your lunch. If you are not purchasing anything please wait for your friends outside the line, it makes the line go much faster.

Remember to turn in your YELLOW lunch applications ASAP, your last year’s lunch application WILL expire on 9-22-18. The last day you will be able to get your free breakfast and lunch will be on FRIDAY 9-21-18! Lunch applications take 7 to 10 days to process.

In sports news....The Thundering Herd took the win over Shasta High School last Friday night. They’re at it again this Friday against Davis here at home. JV is at 5 with Varsity to follow. Come out and show your herd pride!

Today Women’s volleyball and Women’s Tennis are home and both are against Franklin High School.

All students interested in joining either the men’s or the new women’s wresting team: there will be an informational meeting in Coach Shaw’s room, C-11, tomorrow September 14th at lunch. All men’s and women’s wrestlers this is a mandatory meeting this Friday in room C-11 at lunch.


SENIOR NEWS:
Hey Seniors! Tomorrow is the senior tailgate. Come to the softball parking lot at 6:00 for free food, games and face paint. All seniors who go to the tailgate will get into the game for free. Remember to wear white and come out and have some fun!

During the month of September we are collecting fleece for a future FFA meeting.  Choose the print or solid color of your choice and bring to your Ag teacher for an activity point.  Donations can be from 1 to 2 yards. Our first official FFA meeting will be held this Wednesday September 12, 2018 at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria.  Show your spirit and wear blue for an extra activity point.

GENERAL NEWS:
The City of Elk Grove is hosting Party on the Palms Teen Fest this Saturday from 6-9pm. This free event will have food trucks, carnival games, a photo booth, social media lounge and a foam dance party. The event will also have a special appearance by Saweetie. School ID and participation waiver are required. Please see Ms. Conklin in the Career Center to obtain a participation waiver.

Attention all freshmen!! Come get your Spirit on!!! This Friday, the 7th at 5pm is our Freshmen Tailgate. Come out to the quad and have some FREE pizza, prizes, music, and admission to the football game! Don’t forget your ID.

Attention all Mustang and Ford car lovers!
  California Mustangs will be on display behind the auto shop “D” wing on Friday from 8:00 to after lunch! Come back, see the cars and talk to the owners! All sorts of great Mustangs will be on hand to look at. Teachers! Feel free to bring your classes back to see the cars if time permits! Old school Mustangs to New School Mustangs, a Cobra and other Fords to see and appreciate! That’s this Friday, tomorrow behind the auto shop! Be there!

Ladies, have you heard about our newest team sport here on campus? Have you wrestled before high school, or have thought about trying the sport, but didn’t want to practice with the boy’s team? Well we have exciting news! Elk Grove High is proud to announce the formation of a brand new Women’s wrestling team. Please see Coach Shaw in room C-11 at lunch for more information. We will be having a parent meeting toward the middle of September, so keep your ears peeled for that date!

Jostens representatives will be in the quad at lunch today, September 6 for all seniors with packets and forms.
